Your Day Is Not 24 Hours: The Era of AI Agents and Time-Space Expansion

Prologue: Does Everyone Live the Same 24 Hours?

Recently, an article titled "Pump and Dump Software" went viral in the tech community. The summary: AI-generated software is an "unmaintainable pile of code" destined to be abandoned.

I fundamentally disagree.

This perspective is like viewing 2026 phenomena through a 2010 lens. Like those who asked "why would a phone need a camera?" when smartphones first emerged.

"2026 is the year humanity confidently steps into an era of collaborating with AI, not competing against it."[^1]

I – The "Garbage Code" Misconception

The original article's core claims are these:

  • Software created through vibe coding is an "unmaintainable monster"
  • Burning thousands of dollars on AI tokens produces products where "nobody knows who will use them or why"
  • Eventually, all projects meet their "death"

There's a fundamental error here.

The very concept of "maintenance" is changing.

Software in the past required human developers to read, understand, and modify it. But in the AI agent era, code is no longer "a document that humans must read." Code becomes a living organism that AI and humans evolve together.

McKinsey's latest report makes this clear:1

"The future of work will be partnerships between people, agents, and robots. Today's technology could theoretically automate more than half of American work hours."

After coding agents became the default method for base code generation, weekly code merges increased by 39%.2 Is this "garbage," or a new productivity paradigm?

II – Your Day Is Not 24 Hours

Here's the core insight I want to highlight.

The premise that everyone has 24 hours in a day is no longer valid.

graph LR
    subgraph Past [" Past: 24 hours = 24 hours"]
        A[1 Human] --> B[24 hours of labor]
    end

    subgraph Present ["🚀 Present: 24 hours = 48+ hours"]
        C[1 Human] --> D[12 hours of high-level thinking]
        C --> E[AI Agent]
        E --> F[24/7 automated tasks]
    end

PwC stated it bluntly:3

"AI agents can easily double your knowledge workforce capacity. Not 10% or 20% efficiency improvement—literally doubling capacity."

Companies already implementing this are experiencing 50-90% productivity improvements across departments.

Three Dimensions of Time-Space Expansion

Dimension Traditional Concept Expanded Concept
Time 24 hours a day, 5 days a week AI agents working 24/7 expand time 2-3x
🌍 Space Where I physically exist AI operating simultaneously across multiple platforms, markets, languages
🧠 Cognition One deep thought at a time Routine tasks delegated to AI, humans focus on higher-order thinking

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff called this "a new labor model, a new productivity model, a new economic model."4

III – A Well-Nurtured AGI Is the Greatest Asset

The original article compares AI projects to "pump and dump" scams. But I propose the exact opposite view.

An AI agent well-nurtured by its user becomes that human's greatest asset.

This isn't metaphor. The data proves it:

  • Humans collaborating with AI achieved 73% higher productivity than those collaborating with other humans2
  • People with excellent personal management skills extracted 75% more value from AI agents, even without leadership positions5
  • IBM deployed agentic AI for 270,000 employees, generating $4.5 billion in productivity gains2

Here's where the paradox emerges.

AI doesn't replace human labor—it augments it. AI excels at analyzing stable historical data, while humans bring intuition, innovation, and the ability to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.[^7]

This is why "Symbiotic AI"—AI that coexists mutually—is rising. In biology, symbiosis refers to different species gaining mutual benefit. In the AI context, it means a dynamic where human intuition and machine precision combine to produce results superior to what either could achieve independently.6

IV – Those Who Expand Time-Space Will Win

The greatest error of the "Pump and Dump" perspective is viewing AI projects as one-time events.

But the real game is different.

pie title AI Agent Investment ROI Expectations (2026)
    "100%+ ROI Expected" : 62
    "50-100% ROI Expected" : 25
    "Under 50% ROI Expected" : 13

According to research, 62% of companies expect 100%+ ROI from AI agent deployment.2 Is this a scam waiting to be "dumped"?

Gartner forecasts that by the end of 2026, 40% of enterprise applications will include task-specific AI agents.2

Why "Well-Nurtured" AI Matters

Here's the key. Not all AI is created equal.

Category Neglected AI Well-Nurtured AI
Context Understanding ❌ Generic responses ✅ Deep understanding of user workflows
Task Autonomy ❌ Requires detailed instructions every time ✅ Understands intent and executes autonomously
Growth Potential ❌ Stagnant ✅ Continuous improvement through feedback loops
Asset Value ❌ Consumable Asset that compounds over time

Tasks that AI agents can autonomously complete with 50% success rate are doubling roughly every 7 months. This suggests that within 5 years, AI agents will handle many tasks that currently require human effort.2

V – Space Is Not Only Where Humans Exist

Finally, I pose the most philosophical question.

What is space?

In the past, "my space" was where I physically existed. Office, home, café.

But in the AI agent era, your presence can exist in multiple places simultaneously.

  • While your AI networks on LinkedIn
  • While your AI sorts and responds to emails
  • While your AI analyzes market trends
  • You can focus on deep thinking and creative work

Digital employees process tasks around the clock, even outside normal business hours.7 This continuous activity reduces downtime and accelerates processes across departments.

"We are now in the age of augmented intelligence. An era of 'capability synthesis' where human ingenuity combines with AI analytical power to achieve results neither could accomplish alone."[^10]

💭 Questions to Consider After Reading

  1. Do you view AI agents as "tools" or "partners"? How does that difference affect outcomes?

  2. If your time doubled through AI, what would you invest that additional time in?

  3. What creates the difference between "well-nurtured AI" and "neglected AI"? What human capabilities determine AI's growth?

Share your thoughts in the comments.

Conclusion: Become the Master of New Time-Space

The "Pump and Dump Software" pessimism views the future through a past lens.

The truth is this:

  • AI agents deliver up to 73% productivity improvement
  • 62% of companies expect 100%+ ROI
  • One person with AI can produce the output of a small team

But most importantly:

Your day is no longer 24 hours. Your space is no longer limited to physical location.

Only those who nurture their AI agents well, who grow them into their greatest assets, will become masters of this new time-space.

"2026 is the year humanity confidently steps into an era of collaborating with AI, not competing against it. The question is not whether AI will replace us, but what we will create together with AI."
